Literacy Curriculum
Communication skills are the basis of all our educational practice. The development of effective communication, including pre-verbal, signing, speaking, listening, reading and writing is encouraged throughout all curriculum areas and in all aspects of the school day. The school works with the speech and language therapist to produce individual plans and targets.
The schools scheme of work is based on the national curriculum and differentiated to meet individual pupils needs. Accreditation through Edexcel is in place for pupils from key stage 4 with students given the opportunities to attain functional skills qualifications from Entry level 1 upwards.
Pupils are also given the opportunity to go to theatres and experience a variety of workshops from visiting theatre companies in school.
Spilsby is a small market town in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The catchment area is around the north of Boston to the south of Louth, including Skegness, Coningsby, Alford, and Horncastle districts.
The school is a single storey building in very pleasant grounds, including a sensory garden, nature garden and
play areas.
The first in the country to achieve specialist school status in cognition and learning.
